Asana Startup Deals & Discounts

Asana's application-based startup program is a time-limited discount on a paid plan, not a credit balance. Asana's startup page sets these terms:

The page names no percentage. Our listings show two levels: 50% off the first year (headline value $500) and 75% off annual Starter and Advanced for 1 year (headline value $22,491). Asana can amend or revoke the offer before you redeem it, and approval stays at its discretion.

Next to the catalog. ClickUp lists $3k credits and 20% off Unlimited and Business plans for 1 year. Hive lists 50% off on an annual plan and 30% off monthly or annual plans. Linear, built for product development, lists 6 months free, which its catalog entry also words as 100% off the first six months. By percentage, Asana's 75% sits above Hive's 50% and ClickUp's 20% and below Linear's 100%, which runs half as long. Percentage offers grow with the number of seats you add, while ClickUp's $3k is a fixed balance.

A cross-functional team of roughly six to ten people. A product launch needs marketing, product and support to hit shared dates. Timeline and Gantt views already sit on Starter, so a team that mainly needs dates and dependencies can stay on the cheaper tier and spend the difference on more seats.

A founder who reports to investors. Goals and portfolios are Advanced features. If the board update is built from project status, Advanced is the plan to price, and a discount does the most work there because its list price is more than double Starter's.

A two-person founding team. Skip the discount. Personal is free forever for up to two users.

A team that already pays. Accounts on a paid plan, or upgraded to one within the last 60 days, are not eligible, so upgrading first and applying afterwards defeats the purpose.

Series B and later, or a preference for monthly billing. The offer stops at Series A and covers annual plans only. Paying monthly costs $13.49 per user on Starter and $30.49 on Advanced, with no startup price.

An engineering-only team. If everything runs through issues and sprints, compare Linear and Jira in our catalog before settling on Asana.

Asana's pricing page lists these prices per user per month. Personal: $0, with 2 users collaborating for free. Starter: $10.99 billed annually or $13.49 monthly. Advanced: $24.99 billed annually or $30.49 monthly. Enterprise: quoted on request. Seats are added one at a time from 2 to 5 users, then in blocks of 5 up to 30 users, so a team of seven is likely to be billed for ten.

What the discount does to a five-seat Advanced team (annual billing, $24.99 list):

• List price for a year: $1,499.40
• At 75% off: $374.85 in year one, a saving of $1,124.55. At 50% off the saving is $749.70.
• Year two at standard pricing: $1,499.40, four times the discounted year.
• Two-year total at the 75% level: $1,874.25 against $2,998.80 at list, an effective 37.5% off.
• The same five seats on Starter cost $659.40 at list for a year.

The $22,491 figure on the listing assumes 100 Advanced seats at 75% off. A five-seat team saves $1,124.55 in year one.
