Two different offers share the Confluence name in our catalog, and it helps to separate them.

The public free start. Our listing, worth up to $620, describes the self-serve trial that anyone can begin and that falls back to the Free plan afterwards.

Atlassian for Startups. This is the application-based program and the one with real money in it: Premium editions of Atlassian's products for $0 for 12 months, up to 50 users. The conditions are three: no existing paid Atlassian account, VC backing or a place at a partner accelerator or incubator, and no more than US$10 million raised. Each company enrolls once, and Atlassian verifies funding on request. The offer excludes Marketplace apps, and usage-based charges can still apply in some situations.

Beside other knowledge tools in our catalog. Notion lists 6 months free of Business with Notion AI and savings up to $12,000, Coda's headline is $720, and Slite's is $300. Atlassian's free period is twice as long as the 6 months Notion's listing shows. Our catalog also carries a separate Atlassian entry with a headline of $600.

A funded team of 11 to 50 people that wants a real wiki. Free stops at 10 users, so this is the band where Premium for $0 has a price on it: $2,100 a year at 15 people, $3,550 at 25, and $7,100 at 50, per Atlassian's list.

A team already using Jira. Confluence links to Jira issues, and the program covers several Atlassian products at once, with a customer success manager for the year.

A founder who wants startup templates on day one. Business plans, competitive analysis and team health pages ship with the Premium edition in the program.

Skip: a team of ten or fewer. The Free plan already covers up to 10 users, so the program saves no money, only moves you to a higher tier.

Skip: a bootstrapped company with no investor or accelerator. The program requires VC backing or a partner program.

Skip: a company about to pass 50 people. The 51st user moves a team into the next price band.

Atlassian publishes annual tier prices, not per-seat prices. For Confluence Premium on annual billing: up to 10 users $1,400, 11 to 15 users $2,100, 16 to 25 users $3,550, 26 to 50 users $7,100, and 51 to 100 users $14,000. Standard is $720 for up to 10 users, $1,800 for 16 to 25, $3,600 for 26 to 50 and $7,200 for 51 to 100.

What the program saves: a 50-person team gets $7,100 of Premium for $0, about $11.83 per user per month at list. Add one more person and the next tier costs $14,000, $6,900 more than the 50-user price. Before month 12 ends, Atlassian lets the team renew or cancel, and a growth quote lands in the 51 to 100 band.

A team that never leaves the Free plan pays nothing, so the program matters mostly between 11 and 50 users.
